It’s Wet Felting But It Still Won’t Hold Water ~ Make a 6” Vessel Out of Wool

Ever wondered how you can transform sheep’s wool into a beautiful felted vessel? During this class you will learn the process where wool, warm water, soap and agitation are combined to create felt. You will come to understand the basic principles of the craft as well as what the terms “resist”, “felting” and “fulling” refer to. Prior experience or knowledge is not a requirement and all levels of ability are welcome. Youth age 7-17 can enroll if accompanied by an enrolled adult. You will go home with a completed 6” vessel and the knowledge to create many more.

Instructor: Terry Hamp

Instructor Bio: Terry began in her early teens to create and work with her hands, having learned sewing and crocheting from both her grandmothers. They instilled in her the love to create and she is still creating today. She is self-taught, having worked with wool and fibers, spinning, weaving and felting. Her need to remain stimulated has led her to jewelry making in the last ten years. She finds working with her hands gives her great satisfaction and each product she creates motivates her to explore further. Since retiring she has found her house full of creations, too many to give away, and this has prompted an Annual Fall Sale with other family members in their French River home. She has also sold her art at the Duluth Fiber Guild’s annual sale and the Second Saturday Market. You can currently find her artwork at the Duluth Folk School and ALT Creative.
