Our annual Rummage Sale is April 25th at First United Methodist Church (The Coppertop) from 9:00 am–12:30 pm.
Everything you need to know for selling is found here. You can also find answers to common questions below.
What can I sell in the DFG Rummage Sale?
Any fiber-related items. This includes yarn, fabric, wool roving, looms, spinning wheels, and books and tools for any fiber craft. Items must be clean, and tools must be in working order.
How do I prepare my items for the sale?
Every item needs a tag!
Colored card stock cut into shapes or prepared tags with strings work well. NO STICKERS or prices written on tape. Be creative and consistent with your tag design so those who sort the tags don’t have to work as hard to get you your money. See the attached document for more information on helpful tags. Fill out a Seller’s Sheet (attached, and there will be copies in the studio) and bring it with your items to the sale.
What do I put on my tags?
The price tag has only the price and your initials (the same initials as on your Seller’s Sheet). This tag will be removed at the cashier table. Prices should be big enough that people can read them without fishing out their reading glasses. If you have information about the item, such as fiber content or what this strange tool does, include that on a separate tag that will stay with the purchaser.
How do I attach my tags?
All tags must be securely fastened and easily removable at the cashier’s table. Tags attached with string are appreciated, as the string can be easily cut with a scissors.
How do I sell my button collection, or pattern collection, or …?
Small or similar items can be grouped together and tied with string or placed in clear bags. All prices must be in full dollar amounts, so combine smaller items into a bag with a minimum price of $1.00.
What if I want to donate my proceeds to the fiber guild?
Put “DFG” on the tag instead of your initials.
How much should I charge for my items?
People come to this sale expecting to find good deals. If you have items you really don’t want to take home with you, mark them at less than 25% of their new price, possibly much less. If you have nice items that you would like to make some money on, you can charge more, but don’t be surprised if they remain unsold and you need to take them home with you at the end of the sale.
How is the money from the sale distributed?
DFG will keep 25% of the proceeds from member’s sales, and 50% of the proceeds from non-member’s sales. Checks to all sellers will be sent within a week after the sale.
When do I drop off my items?
All items need to be brought to the Coppertop on Friday, April 24th from 3:00-6:00 pm. If this doesn’t work for you, contact Martha at membership@duluthfiberguild.org to make other arrangements.
How can I help spread the word about the sale?
