December happenings
There are a lot of new things happening in the Duluth Fiber Guild right now! Here are a few highlights:
DFG will have a table at the Neighbor-Made Art and Gift Fair held on Saturday, December 11, from 10am-3pm at Peace Church, 1111 N. 11th Ave. East, Duluth. Members will be selling handspun yarn, handwoven accessories and much more. Please stop by and support local artists.
We have a new study group called REPEAT PERFORMANCE: Fiber and Fabric Redo, Recycle, Reincarnate, Upcycle. Explore sustainable expressions in fiber finding new potential for unused linens, holey socks, shrunken sweaters, moth-eaten blankets and other waste fiber and fabric. Meetings will initially be held in the DFG Studio at 1 P.M. on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, beginning December 14. Please join us! Project for this meeting: We will be cutting and hand-stitching wool blanket squares with yarn-stitched edges. We can make Sit-Upons, Pot-holders, Mug-Rugs or whatever you dream up using these techniques – just in time for our winter season – a useful and easy project.
Study groups are one of the perks of DFG membership–you may attend as many as you like each month. Not a member yet? Feel free to try some out before joining the Guild (see study group & membership pages for more details).
