CLASS: Beginning Spinning on the Wheel

This introductory course on wheel spinning will cover: basic wheel mechanics, choosing fiber to spin, fiber preparation, worsted & woolen spinning with a focus on animal fibers, and finishing techniques. Students will take home several skeins of their very own handspun yarn.
Students are welcome to bring their own wheel in good working order or borrow a wheel from Duluth Fiber Guild. Please let us know if you plan to bring your own wheel.

Dates: Friday, September 27, 6:00-8:00 pm; Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Instructor: Tracy Griggs
Instructor Bio: Tracy is a fiber enthusiast who enjoys spinning, weaving, and knitting. She teaches at Yarn Harbor and North House Folk School and is an active member of the Duluth Fiber Guild. Tracy is eager to share her knowledge with new students and welcome them into the creative fiber arts community. When her hands aren’t full of wool, silk, or cotton, you’ll find her reading a book or trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
