Fiber Sculptural Workshop
WI 54844
USA

This workshop is being offered by fiber artist Jane Herrick at her studio in Herbster, Wisconsin.
Participants will manipulate various materials including fiber rush and waxed linen in order to invent two or three-dimensional abstract sculptural forms. Students will learn several different ways to begin a piece allowing them to develop their own fiber structures. Inspiration from photocopies or visuals will assist this process. Some techniques such as knotless netting, twining and needle lacing will be taught to further develop the forms. The first two days students will learn how to create different forms and the third day will be devoted to developing a more complete form. The instructor will give individual attention to each student. Basic materials will be furnished (for a materials fee) and additional optional materials can be purchased through the instructor at the time of the workshop. Please bring small found objects from home such as interesting small flat stones, bark, twigs, unusual papers, etc., that might be incorporated into your fiber piece. Take a walk in the woods! Open to all skill levels. Former students can continue the work they started.
A list of supplies to bring (scissors, needles, etc.) will be sent upon registering. Bring a lunch…if nice weather, we can eat out on the patio while looking at beautiful Lake Superior! Hope to see you!
