Iron, Copper and Soda, oh my!
If you are a natural dyer aspiring to get certain results from your efforts, understanding the use of modifiers is critical. Iron, copper, vinegar, ammonia and washing soda all have the potential to transform a single dye bath into a beautiful range of colors. In this class we will discuss the most common modifiers and how to make and use them. We will practice dyeing wool using variety of modifiers, but only a single dye stuff, to explore the possibilities for your dyeworks. Each participant will get to dye at least one sample skein of yarn (1 oz.) in the dye vats with the option of doing more if dye stuff and time allow. Open to all adult learners and individual children 14 years or older. Family groups are encouraged to attend with children 7 years of age or older.
