Janet Meany Retrospective opens this Wednesday

The final exhibit for the Anniversary celebration  “DFG~ 50 Years and Beyond” opens this week at the Textile Center in the Twin Cities. The “Janet Meany- A Retrospective” exhibit will have the same pieces of Janet’s work that were shown at the Tweed exhibit along with 3 additional new pieces and the opportunity to see Janet’s collection of loom manual documentation that is permanently housed at the Textile Center’s library.  The curating staff at the Textile Center is also trying to arrange viewing of the Janet Meany 2013 interview video that was produced by the Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm (we are hopeful the technology will cooperate!).
The exhibit opening will be November 1 from 1-4 p.m. and the building will also remain open til about 7 p.m. that evening. This show, honoring Janet Meany’s work and an appropriate nod to our founder as we close out our Anniversary year, will be up through December 23 during open hours of the Textile Center (see below).  The exhibit occurs at the same time as the Textile Center’s Holiday Sale.
We have also been told that Paula Pfaff is offering her and Janet’s book, Rag Rug Handbook, for sale at the Textile Center gift shop and proceeds will benefit the Textile Center and the Duluth Fiber Guild. What a generous show of support to the fiber art world!
Gather up your friends and family for a road trip to the Textile Center!  We are so pleased that the Textile Center (DFG is an affiliate member) is excited to host this exhibit and we know you won’t be disappointed.
