CLASS: Beginning Floor Loom Weaving

Students will learn how to wind a warp, use the back-to-front method of winding the warp on the floor loom, and learn all the necessary steps for preparing the loom for weaving. During class students will learn the basics of weaving technique while weaving a sampler that will serve as a reference for future projects.

Class discussions and demonstrations will focus on the basic components of a weaving draft, identify weaving resources for the new weaver, and more. Time will be available to coach individual students on weaving interests and project ideas.

Tools/materials to bring to class: pen/pencil and paper for taking notes

Dates: Friday, November 3, 6:00 -8:00 pm; Saturday, November 4 and Sunday, November 5, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Location: DFG Studio at 2701 W. Superior St., Suite 210, Duluth, MN 55806

Tuition: $235 DFG members, $270 non-members (includes $25 materials fee)

Instructor: Erin Endsley

 

Instructor Bio: Erin is a fiber artist who enjoys weaving, felting, fiber sculpture, and exploring natural dyeing techniques. She is an active member of the Duluth Fiber Guild, and currently teaches floor loom weaving classes for the Guild and at North House Folk School. She enjoys working with new weavers to help them become more comfortable and confident at the loom.

 

Refund policy: If you need to cancel your class registration, you will receive a refund, less a $5 administrative fee, if the cancellation is received fourteen days prior to the class. If you cancel less than fourteen days before the class, you will not be eligible for a refund. If for some reason DFG needs to cancel a class, you will receive a full refund. Please contact education@duluthfiberguild.org if you need to cancel.
